SHINING HOPE FARMS ANNOUNCES NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

MT. HOLLY, NC February 3, 2025 – Shining Hope Farms, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving lives through accessible, nature-based therapies and adaptive horseback riding, proudly announces the appointment of Patrice Gibson as Executive Director.

Since joining Shining Hope Farms in 2020 as Development Director, Patrice has played a pivotal role in expanding funding, growing programs, and introducing new service lines, contributing to the organization surpassing $1 million in annual revenue.

Patrice brings an extensive background in leadership, strategic planning, business management, and fundraising, combined with a deep commitment to advancing Shining Hope Farms’ mission. Known for her innovative problem-solving skills and a proven track record of driving growth, she has been an integral part of the organization’s success and community impact.

“We are incredibly excited to have Patrice step into the role of Executive Director,” said Milinda Kirkpatrick, Founder and Executive Director Emeritus of Shining Hope Farms. “I am proud to pass the baton to her, knowing she will carry the organization into the next 20 years and beyond.”

Kari Saylor, Board Chair, added, “I first want to express a huge thank you to Milinda for her heart to start Shining Hope Farms, and her dedication and leadership in serving the community through this nonprofit for 23 years! What an accomplishment! And I am very excited for the future with Patrice leading the way! Patrice brings immense expertise and a clear vision for the future of Shining Hope Farms. I am confident that under her leadership, the organization will continue to thrive and positively impact the lives of those we serve.”

Patrice officially assumed her role at the beginning of the year, and the entire Shining Hope Farms team is eager to embark on this next chapter under her guidance.

A Legacy of Hope: The Shining Hope Farms Story

Founded in 2002 by Milinda Kirkpatrick, Shining Hope Farms began as a heartfelt mission to serve children and families in need through therapeutic riding. Milinda’s passion was inspired by her early experiences with horses, her family’s connection to disability, and a desire to make a difference in her community.

When a previous program she helped run was unexpectedly shuttered, Milinda and her family sold their home, purchased a dilapidated property in Mt. Holly, and began rebuilding—literally and figuratively—what would become Shining Hope Farms. Thanks to unwavering community support, grants from local foundations, and tireless dedication, the organization grew into what it is today: a multi-location nonprofit serving hundreds of families annually.

Milinda’s vision laid a foundation of compassion, resilience, and innovation, values that continue to guide Shining Hope Farms today as it enters this exciting new chapter under Patrice Gibson’s leadership.
